Styling
I was stylist!
And I loved it! I looked at many stylists for inspiration but i really liked Edward Enninful hes worked on many fashion films, and looking at his work hes very sophistacted but uses a lot of colour and uses the clothes to compliment the movements in the film. he also uses the clothes to creare charecter and narrative which we needed, i needed a palin jane charecter, a crazy jungle girl, then a changed new women from the shoes. Looking at the films that Edward has worked on he uses a lot of changes in the clothes, but many of the films hes worked on are for perfumes, perfume adverts sell a lifestyle and the wanting of and needing of something... which we are doing to, everyone needs these Sophia Webster shoes in their life! so with the styling and make up, i used really dull colours, in the first look the model is just wearing plain boring office clothes with flat loafer shoes, and her hair in a plait with basic make up, which really allows the audience to see the drastic change to her crazy jungle charecter. i feel the first office look really tells the narrative, along with the models great acting you can tell that she is an office setting, bored needing some life. in the second look which is one of her many jungle alter egos, I used neon bikini's which lit up with the set, which looked so effective! the neon bikinis really allowed you to see her movements as some of the lighting had to be quite dark to allow the set to light up, i also used body paint to draw on the models body, unforutnaley this wasent as effective as we wanted it to be we could only film this close up which we struggled with and we wanted to film this far away so that we could get a full body shot but then the body paint dident light up, so we wasted a bit of time on film day trying to get this to be succesfull. Make - up and hair played a big part in the jungle set she had a few hair changes through out to allow the audience to see a playful side, for example she has her hair in little bunches when she is talking to the animals about her amazing shoes, this was to show charecter and narrative. and then later on we plaited her hair to make it more race like which i think worked. we dident plan this it just happened on the day and we are glad it did. As iv had styling experience before i made sure it was vital that we thought about all aspects of the models styling, even down the her nails, i brought along florencent nail polish that we used on her toes which woirked really well as it light up with the black light! i wa swell chuffed with that, and she also had aztect nails which i did. i think little things like that are good to be thought about, especially as we are selling shoes, who wants to look at ugly toe nails whilst looking at the shoes? her final outfit which is in the final office scene, has hints of jungle which i love, she still has one of her neon bikni's on underneath her blouse, and her rave make up and hair, imagine going back to the office looking like this? its so fun! I have mentioned before somewhere, but all the office probs where thanks to me, everyone else got so involved in the probs for our rave set. that no one thought about pribs for our office scene laptop, starbucks mug, fluffy ben, pen holder, post it notes all thanks to me! i think the props make the final scene! They bring charecter! which was my main aim throughout the project, after looking at stylist Edward Enninful.
